On 12 May 2020, Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced a further extension to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS). In addition, changes will be made to provide employers with greater flexibility.
The furlough scheme will now continue into the Autumn, ending in October 2020.
From early August, furloughed staff will be able to return to work on a part-time basis. Employers will contribute a proportion of wages, with the Government continuing to top up to 80% of current salaries (up to £2,500 per month).
