Naresh Shah retires from partnership having reached the momentous milestone of 50 years of service at Lubbock Fine. His significant accomplishment exemplifies a long and esteemed career, one dedicated to client service and loyalty.

Qualifying in 1978 and progressing to Partner in 1989, Naresh has redefined the definition of an exceptional career. His pragmatic client-lead approach and dedication has been instrumental in his rapid progression from trainee to Senior Partner and in turn, his accomplishments have driven the firm to new heights. He now retires from partnership and takes on his new role as Senior Consultant.

Naresh is well known for his extensive experience and in-depth knowledge in advising both UK and overseas clients on tax planning and the establishment of relevant structures in relation to their individual circumstances. He also extended his expertise by becoming a licensed insolvency practitioner, advising individuals and corporates facing financial difficulties.

Alongside supporting the growing arms of Lubbock Fine including the establishment of the Cayman office and Dubai office, Naresh’s forward thinking approach meant he was responsive and adaptive to changing industry developments, resulting in the proactive anticipation of client needs and solution development.

From his early days, in a world of paper contracts and face-to-face meetings, the swift developments in technology shifted the sector’s way of working allowing remote communication overseas with video calls. Naresh always embraced innovations, which allows him to be at the forefront of client service, yet being an old soul means that he still understands the invaluable importance of meeting someone personally wherever they are in the world.

A key aspect of Naresh’s success has been his recognition of enthusiasm for networking, building and maintaining relationships. Over the years, his attendance at UK trade delegations overseas and the interaction with UK Trade & Investments (UKTI), motivated the proposal from the board to become a London Chamber of Commerce ambassador. As a founding firm of Russell Bedford International, Naresh has engaged with numerous conferences, critical to ensuring that his clients are safely supported by a friendly and welcoming global network, whenever they require to take their business overseas.

He has had many notable career achievements, which stemmed from his outstanding technical knowledge and negotiation skills, helping his clients and their businesses towards greatness. Naresh was also honoured to provide comprehensive financial solutions to a well-known novelist, a client whom he had looked after for 38 years, who was later awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2007.

Naresh has behind him 50 years of engagement with various partners who have grown with the firm and retired, and he will be eternally grateful to his colleagues both past and present who have given him their support and who made his career fruitful and enjoyable. Wellbeing is imperative to a progressive working environment, an aspect which he assured was at the heart of the firm across his 50 years of service.

Naresh has acted as trustee of various charities in his effort to contribute to communities. For many years, he was a mentor for The Prince’s Trust advising young adults on how to build a better future. A fundamental piece of advice for those pursuing a career in the sector is to maintain a positive attitude and to reach out to others. Naresh believes you must remove yourself from your comfort zone and get to know people to build your network of clientele and professional relationships in industry.

We’d like to express our appreciation for Naresh’s achievement of this amazing milestone. His inspiration, motivation, and encouraging demeanour towards all employees and clients at Lubbock Fine is the foundation to the success he has enjoyed over the years.

We wish Naresh all the best in his future endeavours and retirement!

Senior Consultant, Naresh Shah, commented on his time at Lubbock Fine “I started as an unqualified Lubbock Fine employee on a mere £65 a month. However, after qualifying in 1978 I worked my way steadily up from Manager to Senior Manager, to Partner and I now retire 50 years later as a Senior Partner. I built my extensive portfolio of international clients through tireless networking, and this has helped the firm to survive both recessions and an international financial crisis.

To my mind, no client has ever been too big, too small, or too much trouble to serve and I have always been available for clients and contacts any day of the week. I never leave home without my business cards because you never know where that next new client will come from. This industry has seen some vast changes during my professional career, and I have enjoyed every second!”
