Any income tax payments that you were due to pay by 31 July 2020 will be deferred until 31 January 2021.
This applies to all taxpayers.
How do you apply?
This is an automatic offer, so you don’t need to apply for it. During this deferral period no penalties or interest for late payment will be charged.
The deferral is optional – some taxpayers may prefer to make the July 2020 payments to avoid a larger payment in January 2021.
This is similar to the VAT Payment Deferral Scheme covered on our briefing here and also the COVID-19: Time to Pay Offer covered in our briefing here.
However, self-assessment returns should still be filed by their due date.
