Case study: Supporting UAE expansion into the UK

Background

Tribe Infrastructure Group, an Abu Dhabi based group, with operations in MENA, Australia and Philippines were looking to expand into the UK and needed local expertise to navigate the process.

Through Russell Bedford Dubai, part of the Russell Bedford International network, Lubbock Fine was introduced to the group. We supported them from the outset to establish Tribe UK and build a fully functioning base in London that provides support services to the parent company.

The Challenge

Expanding into the UK can be complex for companies with overseas ownership. Tribe needed a reliable partner to handle incorporation of the company, tax registrations, and local compliance but one of the biggest hurdles faced by the group was opening a UK bank account.

Due to the group’s international structure, most banks were reluctant to proceed. Without a functioning local account, the company struggled to carry out essential operations such as government registrations and taking on contracts.

The Solution

Lubbock Fine worked closely with the client throughout the setup phase, managing the incorporation of Tribe UK in 2024 and handling all key registrations with HMRC, including VAT and PAYE.

While supporting the company’s wider operational setup, our Business Services team leveraged its network and sector understanding to help overcome the banking challenge. Despite the challenges, Lubbock Fine were able to facilitate an introduction that led to the successful opening of a UK bank account.

The Impact

The successful opening of a UK bank account was a key milestone for the company that finally enabled Tribe UK to operate independently and allow them to take on new contracts in the future.

With the UK operation established, the business has grown steadily. The London office now employs seven staff and plays an active role in supporting group projects internationally.

Throughout the company’s journey, our Business Services team has built a strong working relationship with the Tribe team. We continue to provide ongoing tax and accounting support, including compliance services such as the company’s year-end financial statements and corporation tax returns. Our team also act as a strategic partner offering advisory support as the company plans for the future.
