We’re always looking to recruit really great people

By Jeff Gitter, partner

For us, people are our primary asset so let’s start with the important things.  Salary packages are highly competitive with promotion and spot bonuses awarded on merit. Two of our newest partners are ‘home grown’: one originally joined us as a school leaver and around 25% of us have been with the firm for over a decade.  It is our fantastic team who have helped propel us to where we are today.  Highly motivated and dedicated, they all make a major contribution to our success.

Earlier this year we moved to our new offices in St Paul’s, the beating heart of the city. The light and airy design of our new, bespoke premises was very much with our people in mind. That’s why we now have an attractive staff break-out area with daily fresh fruit deliveries, fresh coffee with a variety of other refreshments - and TV on tap.

Nothing demonstrates the motivation of our staff members more than our move to new premises. Due to our team going beyond the call of duty, we were able to hit the ground running and it was business as usual by 11:00am on the first day in our new offices. The only reason for the delay was the croissants and pastries that we all enjoyed that morning.

Our flexible benefits scheme includes ‘cycle to work’, discounted healthcare, childcare vouchers and access to retail discount vouchers.  A lively social programme includes parties, charity events and an annual away-day attended by the whole firm.  Through our sponsorship of the arts, staff are often offered tickets to the Royal Academy, OAE concerts and the National Theatre.

We also have an active alumni programme and we endeavour to ensure that anyone who leaves, does so on a friendly basis.  Our door is always open to ‘returners’ and amazingly, this year we have had three past staff return to full employment with us.

We have a structured, paid internship programme, and secondments in overseas firms which are members of our international organisation, Russell Bedford International, are often on offer.

We recruit up to six trainees and two school leavers each year through a rigorous selections process, because unlike larger firms, we don’t have a weeding-out process as we go along.  We just make sure that we select the right people. Recruitment days at our firm have been praised by many who have joined us.

To quote one of our people:

“During my time at Lubbock Fine I have worked on a wide range of assignments.  I don’t believe I would have had this experience in a larger firm.  As soon as I joined, I knew that Lubbock Fine was the type of place I wanted to work. Everyone was welcoming and immediately made me feel at ease. The firm revolves around those who work here which is why there’s great emphasis on getting to know you throughout the application process. During the interview, I felt comfortable and was able to be myself. They’re looking for people who can both do the job and will integrate well into the team.  That’s how I know I made the right choice to join this firm.”
